Many current challenges such as global warming, climate change and migration have a wide scope, are complex, affect many people and require great efforts from many actors to be solved.

It is not easy to reach agreement on the priorities of current global challenges. Science, business, politics and civil society must continually renegotiate differences of opinion, interests and conflicts. The United Nations have defined 17 sustainability development goals (SDGs) that are used worldwide as a guideline for orientation.

I wrote about this function of the SDGs in December 2023 in my monthly column in the regional daily newspaper Böhmezeitung.
